it's big business laundering money through construction and improvements of a kingdom hall.
it's steady cash flow laundering money to maintain a kingdom hall.
donated labor from members is icing on the cake.
Prologos,
One contributes in money and resources what one can honestly afford without neglecting our family obligations. To the reasonable JW this is abundantly clear.

it has been a long time.. thanks to jw.org, i was reading some jw material (what does the bible teach i believe).
it was the first time reading a "book study" book in many years and i was blown away by the controlling, cultish writing.
this question especially struck me as manipulative: do you believe that we are living in the last days, and why?.
Hi,
According the Biblical accounts, we've been living in the last days ever since this fine writing has been in existence.
This is why many years ago, around the 'Generation' new light (mid-90s?), we had a large family/extended-family meeting in one of our homes in New England (funny, looking back it seemed so similar to a large thanksgiving gathering seeing in movies) where we feasted in tasty caribbean food; there, while enjoying this fine meal, one of our elders (in age and JW title as well) called to order and silence and stated that in light of this new development we as JWs and family as well should pay full attention to what the book of Revelation 4:11 said. From that point forward, although it should've been like this all along, we shall continue to serve our God for his wonderful creations, and not with 'anxious expectation of the end'.
His emphatic and self-assured words gave me goose bumps, but put into practice have brought a much better atmosphere to us all as a family and in our everyday lives. So, we went on forward to study secularly, travel, embarq in business ventures, etc., all as applicable, and continued on our JWism; all from a fresh perspective.
The 'end', whether by man's doing, by divine intervention or some natural cosmic event who really knows, will happen or just by merely dying as so many millions have experienced already. Our present reality is "Life ends"; so, while alive, enjoy it and keep moving forward in the goal you set for yourself and brings you happiness.
If the "end" as we JWs expect it happens, then, wonderful! It's about damn freaking time! But, since it hasn't and it seems that God himself is in no rush, is astoundingly foolish to live life just waiting for that event.

i am sure people convery to a religion to find peace and spiritual awakening.
i also bet many convert simply for love.
would you to assist " true love" if it required converting to a particular faith?.
Nhah,
Religion is such a big part that defines and forms somebody that leaves me confused about how can a person find 'true love' in somebody that is so different from one's formation?!
This is what makes perfect sense to me when the Bible states not to "yoked together with unbelievers"; which relationship-worthy common ground can you find with someone whose life in many regards is completely different/opposed to one's core beliefs?
Here in the States it seems that the vast majority of people live life drowned from one holiday to the next, with birthdays in between; so, what similarity can one find to become attracted? Of course, unless one is ready to trade identity and assimilate the other person's. Then it's totally possible this 'true love', but even then there will be friction if one has been indoctrinated differently.
It's always best for true love's sake to find somebody that holds the most common ground with oneself. And even then there'll be plenty of issues to work out.

this is what somebody has been telling me, trying to convince me aside from anything one can say or cause reason for doubt, as the evidence that they are the true religion and true people of god.
they are convinced because while 'all other' christian and other religions support war, troops, etc, jw's don't and they are the only one's who carry god's name and preach.
nothing else matters.
The reality on this is that there are scores of other groups of people that will refuse to go to war or even encourage their children to serve in the military.
Also, there are many other religious associations that do preaching work all over the world. However, our proselytism is so well organized and public that it has become our trademark.
I loved to hear a couple of years ago in the movie 'Argo', which won many accolades, mention that the people "were going door-to-door like Jehovah's Witnesses" looking for the embassy workers. Or in the 'Coming To America' movie, when they want to dismiss the person at the door, the father says "Oh, it's just Jehovah's Witnesses". What a high!

anybody remember hearing this?.
--.
is that comment in print anywhere?.
Hi,
I remember hearing this same quote a few times in my life-long JW run. Albeit very informative, these magazines no doubt have the JW agenda in mind and won't be accepted in the real world anywhere near equivalent to a formal college education.
Kids... GO TO COLLEGE FOR A REAL DIPLOMA! In STEM related degrees please, if your intelligence affords it, of course.
And don't waste your precious time and money in crappy Liberal Arts and other cockamamie related degrees either! Finding a good trade works out better financially. Do career training and see where your smarts place you in the education spectrum.

hi everyone, im begining to notice patterns of mental issues in the congregations and among the witnesses as a group.
do you think this is a trend in the entire world or is it exagerated in this organization?.
.
Blackfalcon98,
We have our group of 'nuts', no doubt, some really colorful ones in the Spanish congs. However, it's no different than any other large group of people if you really do your research honestly.
This realization just becomes aggrandized in your mind because of your JW biases.

From the critical/jealous viewpoint, might seem like shady practices; in reality, there's this huge crowd of sincere worshippers that take pride in their places of worship and consider it worth it to devote their own time, energy and resources for building and upkeep of said properties.
Regarding the economy practices, it's not my field of expertise but, I'm confident that it's being done within the confines of the established guidelines.
Pure jealousy of our prosperity comes acrosss in threads like this one and similar. Sad day for y'all in this regard as we're moving with prosperity full speed ahead.

this was posted on a jw site and it would be nice if we could verify.. .. .. as of february 2015, the awake!
